About the house
Our house was built new in 1985 in the old traditional style with a large floor to high ceiling fireplace as a central feature. It has Liscannor slate tile flooring and wooden type sash windows. The outside exterior is white with a dark slate roof and a traditional half door which people love to be photographed looking out towards the sea which is only a few meters in front of the house. It uses oil for central heating and electricity for other utilities.
We built the house because of the beauty of the site, the lovely local beach, the wealth of traditional Irish music in the area, the friendliness of the locals, the flora, fauna, local walks and easy access to other West Coast areas of beauty and history.
In recent years new restaurants and the renowned Doonbeg Golf Course have added to Doonbeg's charm. Walking to the town along the coast takes just minutes.
There are many guide books and novels of local interest at the house to help you explore in more detail.
The house has 4 bedrooms, 2. of which have queen sized beds. 1 has twin-beds and the last has bunk beds.
All linens and towels are supplied.
We , I am American and my husband is Irish, have been exchanging with people in Massachusetts on the North Shore (Marblehead) and South Shore (Cohasset, Scituate) for 15 years. We like being near the ocean.
We usually swap during the months of July and August but because it is our second home a swap need not be simultaneous. We are now retired so we might also consider other times of the year.
Please contact us to inquire about current dates for a swap with your home or holiday home.
